The Witness Today ministry
was inspired by God and was manifested through the vision He gave to me,
Paul Hester.
God blessed me in 1991 by
allowing me to find my birth father after being separated from him for 25
years. You see, he gave me up for adoption when he and my mother became
divorced. Apparently he tried to keep and raise me himself, but realized I
would have a better life if he let me go. I thank God often for helping my
dad realize that. If I had stayed with him and his family, I would have
grown up uneducated, as a coal miner in West Virginia. As it was, I got to
live in Costa Rica for ten years, I got a college education, I met and
married a beautiful and Godly woman, and I got a job that allows me to
support a family of five.
When my father and I were
first reunited, it was amazing to see the kinds of things that God shared
between us. For example, we both had two passions; computers and old British
sports cars. I believe that one of the reasons God reunited us was to show
me that my passion for computers was not just something I acquired, but
rather something given to me by Him. Another reason I believe that my
passion for computers and technology is God-given, is that I have a
senior-level job in the computer industry without having received a college
degree in that industry. I thought I graduated from college with a degree
that was going to make me an investment banker. What an awesome God we have.
I wasn’t even aware of my passion for computers until after I graduated from
college, yet it’s something God had planned well before I was even
conceived. Why would He do that? The only reason I can think of is that He
wants me to use this talent and passion for Him. It wasn't until February
2002 that I came to realize this purpose for my life.
I spent from February till
July of 2002 praying and asking God to reveal more of this purpose and
vision to me. The vision was clear; to help other Christians witness via the
Internet and allow them to do it for free. God had told me what to do, but
He hadn't yet told me how to do it. But by this time He had given me the
courage to make His vision known, even if I didn't have all the answers. I
shared the vision with Saving Grace Ministries and we decided this would be
a great opportunity to work together. I shared the vision with my church and
got others to start praying with me. For six months, we prayed specifically
for our first server. Then in February 2003, God provided it! Then He
provided the broadband access in March and Witness Today was "officially"
online on March 21, 2003. Incidentally, that happens to be my daughter's
birthday. Isn't God amazing?
When He planted the
seed in my mind, I felt I could take it from there. I was impatient and
tried to hurry God. He kept reminding me to slow down and take it easy; that
this was His ministry and it would start when He was ready.
I thank God for creating
me, knowing me, speaking to me, loving me, forgiving me, and giving me a
purpose. I pray that I, nor this ministry, lets Him down. I can't wait to
see what He does with it. |
