What do I need to use Witness
Today's
Web hosting services?
All you need to use Witness Today's Web hosting services is
a computer with a browser and a connection to the Internet.

Does Witness Today provide Internet service?
No. Witness Today is not an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
An ISP provides a connection to the Internet via dial-up, digital cable
or DSL. Witness Today, a Web hosting provider, provides Web servers on which
you can place your Web site files for people to access via the Internet.
To use Witness Today's Web hosting services, you must have an Internet connection.

Do I need any special software?
Witness Today does not provide a Web-based
FTP tool you can use to upload your files or a site
building tool you can use to design your site. You must use your own FTP
and HTML applications. Commercial products such as FrontPage and
DreamWeaver do not require a separate FTP application. Neither do some
free tools such as Nvu ( www.nvu.com).

Once I place my order, how long
does it take to get my site up and running?
Once you place your order,
you will receive a confirmation email from Witness Today. Once you reply
to that email, we will begin setting up your account immediately. It
can take anywhere from 24 hours to 5 days from start to finish.
Remember, this is a part-time ministry.

What platforms or operating systems
does Witness Today use?
Witness Today offers only Windows®
Server 2003 platforms running Microsoft® IIS.

Does Witness Today offer 24-hour support?
No. Witness Today's does not currently have a technical support staff available 24-hours
a day to assist you with any problems you have. However, support via
email is usually handled and resolved within 1 day.

Can I access my site at any time
to make changes?
Yes. You can access your Web site files at any time to
upload files or make changes. You can use a third-party FTP client or Web development
tool such as FrontPage. Any changes you make to your site will take effect
immediately.

How do
I manage my account and access Witness Today's tools? What about checking email?
Witness Today does not currently provide a Web-based control panel for
you to manage all aspects of your Web hosting account. Witness Today
does provide a Web-based email tool, MailEnable,
that enables you to send and receive email.

Does Witness Today
support Microsoft
FrontPage?
Microsoft FrontPage provides users with a What You See
is What You Get (WYSIWYG) HTML editor and includes a publish feature that
enables users to transfer files to and from the Web server. FrontPage
also supports advanced features such guest books and hit counters. All
of Witness Today's hosting accounts include Microsoft FrontPage and Microsoft FrontPage
Server Extensions.

What database solutions does
Witness Today
offer?
Witness Today offers a number of database solutions. First, Witness
Today offers Microsoft SQL Server, a complete database and data analysis
software package. It is highly scalable and well-suited to complex
ecommerce sites and enterprise applications.
Second, Witness Today offers MySQL ,
an open source relational database management system that utilizes the
SQL database language. It is a multi-user, multi-threaded database
server that provides speed, robustness and ease-of-use.
Third, Witness Today also supports Microsoft Access, an easy-to-use database
application that integrates with many Microsoft Office products. Access
is a good choice if you want to use data from an existing Microsoft
Office product or if you do not have large amounts of data.

Will
Witness Today help design my Web site?
Yes. Witness Today does provide Web site design services. However,
we would like to remind you that this is a volunteer effort, and we
have families and jobs too.

What is Witness Today's policy
on upgrading software that comes with my Hosting plan?
You probably have some experience with upgrading software. If so, you
are probably also aware of some of the pitfalls involved with such
upgrades. As we are responsible for the reliability and stability of
hundreds of Web sites and email systems, we are very careful when it
comes to modifying our software.
As a matter of policy, we do not roll out the latest changes until
they have been subjected to our extensive internal testing for at least
several months. Also, we believe that it's wise to let the new release
stabilize for several months, rather than roll out the changes
immediately. Of course, there are some exceptions to this. When new
security holes are identified and new patches released to fix them, we
generally apply those patches right away.

Can I see statistics about the
visitors to my site?
Yes. All sites include a webstats.htm file that is updated
every day at midnight. Simply point your browser to http://<yoursite>/webstats.htm..
