What is a POP3 email account?
POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3) is a protocol used for downloading email messages from an email server to your computer. With a POP3 email account, all of the email messages sent to your email address are stored on a POP3 mail server until you log on to the server and download the messages.
Witness Today provides at least one POP3 email account with every registered
domain. You can use MailEnable, Witness Today’s Web-based email application, to download your messages from the server or you can use a traditional email client such as Microsoft® Outlook®, Eudora® or Netscape® Communicator.

What is spam?
Spam is the term used for mass, unsolicited emails. Usually
these are promotions or advertisements sent in “bulk” to the email addresses
of people who have not requested this information. Witness Today
strictly prohibits sending spam from any email address on our mail
servers or advertising your Web site in other company's spam mail.

Do you provide spam filtering?
Yes. Witness Today does utilize a server-based spam filtering system.
When you receive emails identified as spam, they will have
'*****SPAM*****' in the subject. The spam filtering program is not
user-configurable at this time.

Do you provide virus filtering
for incoming email messages?
Yes. Witness Today's email server provides virus
filtering that helps keep your email virus-free. All incoming email
messages are automatically scanned to detect for viruses.
As soon as an email reaches our mail server, our virus filtering system
scans the incoming message and any attachments using the latest virus
definitions. With standard virus filtering, if an email is found to
contain a virus, the email is automatically deleted and a notification
is sent to both the sender and the recipient.
Our virus definitions are updated on a daily basis to provide the greatest
security.
What
is SMTP?
SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is a protocol for sending email messages across the Internet. It is used in conjunction with both POP3 and IMAP, protocols that enable you to download messages from a mail server to your computer. SMTP is used for outgoing mail while POP3 and IMAP
are used for incoming mail.
If you want to use an email client such as Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Communicator to send email messages, you will need to configure the client so that it connects to the correct SMTP mail server each time you send mail.

What is email forwarding or
redirection?
Email forwarding is a way for you to have email messages that are sent to one address automatically forwarded to a different address. For example, your customers may send all of their requests for information to the email address information@yourdomain.com. You could set up your email so that all of the messages sent to that address are automatically forwarded to your personal email account at yourname@yourisp.com.
Witness Today enables you to set up a redirection for each of your email accounts.

What is an autoresponder?
An email autoresponder sends an automated email response to each incoming message that is sent to a specific address. For example, a potential customer may send an email to sales@yourdomain.com asking for more information about some of your products. You can have the autoresponder send a prewritten message back to the customer thanking them for their interest and letting them know that a sales representative will be contacting them shortly. This feature helps you to improve your
ministry’s image, as your visitors will know right away that you have received their email and that you are responsive to their needs.
Witness Today enables you to set up an autoresponder for each of your email accounts.

I need to have email accounts for the different people. How many mail boxes can I set up?
Witness Today provides 10 mailboxes with each registered
domain. However, if you need more, just ask.

How do I set up my email account? What information do I need?
When you have Witness Today register a domain for you, one default
email account is already set up for you. Usually, this will be in the
format postmaster@domainname.com.
If you would like to create additional email accounts, you can do so from within
the postoffice administration.
What is the "catch-all" function?
The catch-all function enables you to accept emails whose intended recipient does not exist in your domain. For example, let's assume you created two POP email accounts (john@mydomain.com and sales@mydomain.com) and one email
redirection (mary@mydomain.com that redirects to sales@mydomain.com). If someone sends an email to johndoe@mydomain.com, an account that currently does not exist, then the email will still be received.
However, a substantial disadvantage to the catch-all function is that it catches far more spam than legitimate emails. As such,
we do not provide support catch-all.
I want to send my visitors information on a regular basis. Can I set up a mailing list?
Yes. Witness Today's email mail server enables you
to create and manage mailing lists. Visitors can subscribe
to and unsubscribe from by send mail to the lists.

How do I change my email password?
You can change your email password by logging in to webmail
and clicking on the Options link. The next time you check your mail, you will use the new password. If you are using an email client such as Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Communicator, be sure you make the necessary changes to your connection information.

How do I check my mail?
You can check your mail using a traditional email client such
as Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Navigator or by using Witness Today’s
webmail.
Webmail enables you to check your email using your Web browser from any location as long as you have access to the Internet. One of the advantages of
webmail is that you can use webmail and traditional email clients such as Outlook to check the same email account. So, when you’re in the office you can use your favorite email application, but when you’re traveling you can just log in to
webmail.
To use webmail, simply point your browser to
http://mail.witnesstoday.org/
and then log in using your email address and password.
If you want to use another email client you will have to configure it
so that it can connect to the mail server. You will need to know the
incoming (POP3) server name, your outgoing (SMTP) server name and your
user name and password. Click here for help
configuring your email client.

Is there a limit to the number of messages I can have in my mail box?
No. Witness Today does not currently impose any limits.

What is the maximum size for an email attachment?
Witness Today does not currently impose any size limits.

What are the email server addresses?
Below are the various possible addresses you might use for
accessing email. Make sure to use the correct address for the particular
protocol you are using. • SMTP Server Address:
mail.witnesstoday.org
• POP Server Address: mail.witnesstoday.org
• IMAP Server Address: mail.witnesstoday.org
• HTTPMail Server Address: http://mail.witnesstoday.org:8080/MEHTTPMail
• Webmail URL:
http://mail.witnesstoday.org/MEWebmail/
• Email Administration URL:
http://mail.witnesstoday.org/MEAdmin/

How do I configure my external email
client?
In order to read your access your mail from an external email
client (such as Eudora, Outlook, Netscape, etc.), you will need to configure
the Incoming (POP) and Outgoing (SMTP) server settings so that it can send
and receive messages from your Witness Today mail account. Generally, you
can find these settings under the Tools or Preferences menus for your
particular email program.
Important: Do not delete your incoming mail settings
If you are already receiving mail from another mail server (such as incoming
mail to your address at your ISP), you will need to add a new POP account.
Sometimes this is called a new "profile," sometimes a new "personality,"
depending on your email client. If your email client only allows you to
receive mail from one POP server at a time, make sure you write down your
current settings before you replace them with Witness Today Mail settings so
that you can change them back if you need to. Below you will find the server
settings for accessing your Witness Today Mail. We've given directions
below for configuring POP access to mail for selected email clients. Your
client may not be on this list, and server settings vary from client to
client. Remember, even after you configure your mail client to send and
receive mail messages, you can always log in to your webmail account to send
and receive as well.
